The Martian

One of the biggest successes of 2015, The Martian is a science fiction film that follows the story of an astronaut, who, having been presumed dead, was left behind on Mars. What follows is his story of survival and efforts to communicate to his people that he is, in fact alive. Set in 2035, the film shows the manned mission to Mars that gets botched due to an unexpectedly strong sandstorm.

As the crew does their best to evacuate, one of their astronauts Mark Watney is stuck by the debris and lost in the storm. With no available signs of him, and the storm getting stronger by the second, the team assumes that he is dead and leaves Mars. However, Watney in fact survived. With only his ingenuity and wit, and a handful of supplies to rely on Watney must now find a way to communicate this fact to the Earth. Will Watney be able to return to Earth in time, or will he eventually meet his end?
